One of the world’s largest container shipping lined, Maersk, has begun a new service to Royal Portbury Dock at Bristol Port. The new service, which started on 21st December is being run in conjunction with BG Freight and offers customers the opportunity to import their goods via one of Europe’s largest port, Rotterdam, to Portbury Dock in 48 hours. It will be operated using 1000 teu capacity vessels and is attracting interest from a wide range of trades, including forest products, alcohol and retail, according to the Bristol Port operators. A Port spokesperson said: “Choosing us can help customers reduce time, costs, carbon emissions and congestion in their supply chains, and industry leading carriers are continuing to recognise this. In providing marine services, stevedoring and quayside operations, we offer a complete package, and we proudly welcome Maersk and BG Freight as one of our services."
