DHSS was awarded a ships agency and port logistics services contract by GE Renewable Energy for the Merkur offshore wind farm, located in the North Sea off the coast of Germany. The activities will be carried out from DHSS new supply base in the Port of Eemshaven and will begin mid-February 2018 starting with Service Operations Vessel Vestland Cygnus and crew transfer vessels involved with the project. Merkur will cover a 47km² area and is located approximately 45km north of the Borkum island in the North Sea. The installation of the 66 Haliade 150-6MW turbines is expected to begin in the coming weeks and last for six months. The project will have a 396MW capacity and completion is scheduled for the end of 2019. It is anticipated to provide renewable energy to around 500,000 households annually.
